Exact date Greater Manchester set to be warmer than Turkey with highs of 20C (1)

The first week of April has brought sunshine and mild weather to most of the country. Later this week, parts of the UK will be hotter than the popular holiday destination of Turkey.

With temperatures reaching 21C in the south of England on Friday afternoon, this will be the hottest part of the week for most of the country - with Greater Manchester seeing highs of 19C and 20C.

Compare this to the idyllic tourist destination of Antalya, which is only forecast to reach a maximum of 17C that same day - meaning those in Manchester could actually be warmer than those on vacation in Turkey!

Parts of the country set to reach 21C at 4pm on Friday, April 4, includes Brighton, Taunton, Hereford, Northampton, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and Milton Keynes. Some areas in South Wales could even reach 22C at this same time.

During the hottest part of the week on Friday afternoon, Manchester is expected to reach 20C.

On Saturday, April 5, the temperature in the South of England and large parts of Wales will remain in the high teens, but for the rest of the country it is forecast to sit in the mid-teen region - with Greater Manchester set for highs of 15C.

By Sunday, April 6, most of the UK will reach low to mid teens, with the warmest reaching highs of 15C along the south coast - but it will remain sunny.

With the weather getting warmer and the sun getting stronger, the Met Office has warned Brits to protect their skin from UV rays, which will continue to get stronger throughout April. Even though it might not feel like it, the rays can be strong enough to damage your skin.

Hay fever sufferers should also be aware that the pollen count, which can be found on the Met Office forecast for specific areas, is expected to sit around medium levels throughout the week.

The Met Office has also warned that although the days are set to be warmer than usual for the start of April, temperatures will still go fairly low during the night, with the possibility of overnight frost in areas.

A Met Office spokesperson told the MEN: "While day time temperatures will be warm next week, nights will still be chilly and there is still a chance we could see some rural overnight frosts under the clear skies."

It comes as the Met Office revealed that England experienced "record-breaking" weather in March. A whopping 185.8 hours of sunshine hit England throughout March, which is 59 per cent higher than its long-term meteorological average, confirmed the Met Office.

According to provisional Met Office statistics, it was also the UK's third sunniest March since records began in 1910 and Wales' second sunniest. There was also a north v south divide, with southern England recording its sunniest March since 1910 and northern England its third.
