What is Frankincense?
SOURCE
Frankincense is a fragrant resin obtained from trees in the Boswellia genus, particularly Boswellia carterii or Boswellia sacra. These trees are native to regions like Somalia, Ethiopia, the Arabian Peninsula, and India.
EXTRACTION
The resin is harvested by making incisions in the tree bark, allowing the milky sap to exude and harden. The hardened resin is then collected and processed to produce frankincense essential oil, often through steam distillation.
AROMA
The oil has a warm, spicy, woody, and sometimes slightly sweet or citrusy scent.

Frankincense has long been referred to as the King of Oils. It is said, that if you are not sure what oil to use, reach for Frankincense, as it works equally well on the physical and emotional bodies. When we look at the study done on the frequencies of essential oils, referenced on this page, we see that the Frankincense frequency is right in the middle. We know that the higher frequency oils work on the spiritual and emotional body while the lower frequency oils work on the physical body. So, Frankincense, registering right in the middle, truly is the King of Oils and is the one to reach for when you are not sure. I’ll take it a step further…there is rarely anything going on in the physical body that is not related to something going on in the emotional body, and vice versa.
The Science
In 1992, Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology, a division of Eastern Washington State University, Cheney, WA, developed equipment to measure electrical frequency in humans and foods. This equipment was used in a research study at Johns Hopkins University to determine the relationships between frequency and diseases. The results of that study are in the next two columns.
